An exploration of learning Tristin Cunnington I’m like everyone else I see the world in terms of what I would like to see happen not what actually does.
Most people see the world as a threatening place, and, because they do, the world turns out to be a threatening place.
But ever since I had been a child, It was not a threatening place I had wanted to know the world, and this was much more important to me than knowing god and learning about man’s sins.
I had traveled for almost a year around the world, but I had gotten more tired when I would walk through the streets buying leather
Through my travels I had learned when each day is the same as the next, it’s because people fail to recognize the good that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises.
I had learned about the soul of the world How it’s nourished by people's happiness. By unhappiness, envy, and jealousy.
Most importantly I had learned to Listen to your heart as It knows all things It will keep you safe and find you treasure And when you listen to your heart There is nothing to hold you back except yourself
I couldn’t have found god back home I look at the sunrise and see him there He would look back at me and teach me; The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, But never forget where you came from and what you already have
THE BOOK, THE SONG, THE IMAGE
Louis Riel is a graphical auto-biography on a french metis leader of a resistance against the Canadian government. The book was originally published in 1999 with 10 issues but the version we know today was published in 2003 and has 271 pages. The story begins in 1869 with a sale of a settlement called "The Red River Settlement" to the Canadian government. This settlement is inhabited by french metis people who have denied this request to sell their land. The metis have a bilingual leader by the name of Louis Riel. Louis Riel is demanding for the settlement to govern themselves within Canada. The Canadian government denied this request and that denial has set a conflict between the french metis people and the Canadian government. This denial consumes Louis Riel's life in many different ways from being sent to an insane asylum to being hung for his actions.
This story was an interesting story for me to read and I liked it. This is a story that I would recommend to many different people.
I chose this image because it resembles who Riel was. This image might not show the story or the theme but it shows who Louis Riel grew to be in Canada. Riel became respected and a hero in peoples eyes. He fought for what he thought was good for his people to keep them and his heritage alive and I believe that this picture is showing this well showing that it might've just got somewhere.

This is the song I chose for my book. I chose this song because it actually tells the story of Louis Riel in a nice calm musical way. I thought this was a good way to show off the book was to actually tell the story in a musical form. This song was also rumored to be written by louis Riel himself and translated from french to english.
